VS America

America’s Schoolhouse Council and VS America (a Charlotte, NC-based educational furniture designer and manufacturer) invited architects from ASC member firms to a series of conversations about designing and equipping inquiry-based instructional spaces. The group explored the connections between learning and innovative learning environments and the furnishings that enable collaborative activities.

Working at VS’s offices and factory in Tauberbischofsheim, Germany, the group spent an intensive three days sifting through research, and synthesizing best practices, and considering past approaches. The showrooms and workspaces at VS provided a stimulating, practical example of spaces that foster collaboration. The group documented their findings in a publication, and have presented to groups around the U.S.
